A lot of international outsourcing services companies nowadays provide almost all kinds of services and solutions catering to small, medium and even large scale businesses. The practice has been accepted throughout the world, with the outsourcing services companies trying to compete with each other in meeting the outsourcing demands of the clients.
Why outsource? Companies outsource for the obvious reason of lowering their costs, conserving or redirecting their energy toward competencies of a particular business. Other reasons are to make more efficient use of capital, labor, resources and technology. This could involve transferring the management of a firm’s day-to-day activities, sometimes even its entire business function, to an international outsourcing services company.
Both the client and the international outsourcing services company enter into a contractual agreement that defines the services to be transferred. Sometimes, it could involve the transfer of assets, resources, and even people from the client. Other times, no such transfer is involved—such that the international outsourcing services companies use their own assets, resources and people.
Some activities that businesses outsource to international outsourcing services companies include human resources, information technology, management of facilities and real estate, and accounting. A lot of companies also outsource call center and customer support functions such as market research, customer services, telemarketing, engineering, and manufacturing.
One drawback that could happen in outsourcing is fraud—a specific security issue considered as a criminal activity committed by employees of the international outsourcing services. Therefore, before outsourcing, the organization must be liable for all their actions and responsible for the actions of all their staff. The legal status of people who are transferred to an outsourcer may have changed, though they may not have changed the location of their desks. They are now directly responsible to the outsourcer, and no-longer to their former employers.
